imersion heater,what size cable?

i am planning on moving my hot water tank to another cupboard in my house which is approx 3 meters away from where it is now,i am also wanting to move the switch on the wall that provides main power to it from the consumer unit to its new location, there is no way i can go all the way back to the consumer unit with new cable as to much hassle,so i was planing to use a 30amp juction box and extend the original cable with new cable to the new location where i want the wall plate,my question is what size of cable to i buy 2.5mm,4mm..etc,also is the method i want to use acceptable, the immersion heater i have is 3kw

2.5mm, T & E is the normal cable size for immersion heaters.

OP is requesting advice on cable from existing cable from consumer unit to wall plate, not the flex.
After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
    To dissolve the people
    And elect another?

Read the OP's request properly.:naughty:

The request was to extend the wiring up to the switched outlet, not after it.
