Another wii/pc question.

Options
Sorry to ask but can't find the answer when I search through this forum. My son has a wii and wants to connect it to the internet. I know I have got to buy an LAN cable because I don't have wireless internet. The problem is my sons wii is connected to tv upstairs and my computer is downstairs. I assume to set it up I need computer, tv and wii all together.

1) Can I get an LAN with a long lead or will it completely slow down connection speeds?

2) Once I have set everything up, supposing I can, if he then downloads some games do they then get stored to the wii or do we need to connect it to pc to play them?

Sorry but this is all beyond me. Thanks.

The Network cable can be up to 200m long before the signal begins to break up. so unless you live in a really huge house it won't be a problem. :D

As for games, I'm not sure (Don't have a Wii) :(

plug this into your pc and it need to be on to connect buy from game . games go on to the wii . Or if you have a wifi router you might be able to connect through that works with some not all routers though. before you conect buy some wii points from wollworths to buy games .

Why buy the USB DOngle, it's £30 at Amazon and then your PC has to be on to connect the Wii to the internet. It would be cheaper to buy a wirelss router and connect it directly tot hat and then the PC doesn't need to be on.

Alternatively a LAN cable will be fine, although I thought the official max distance was 100m, should still be long enough though.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
