BT and Sky

I am moving next weekend and finally my landlord has agreed to pay the BT connection fee... which is great as the mobile broadband I got from Vodafone was worse than rubbish and that's going back on Tuesday!
Anyway, I was thinking about getting Sky and I'm sure someone mentioned that Sky would refund the BT connection charge, is this right? And do I need to contact Sky before I set-up the line with BT?
Sky's package for £16 for phone, broadband and TV is what I'm after... anyone have any comments on this?
Thanks!

I think you might need a MAC code from original provider to send to Sky but ask Sky - if you do need one you will need to contact the original provider to get itKeep the Faith:cool:0

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have just got out of my last months contract with TalkTalk. Worst 18 months of my life!!
Anyway I have just reconnected to BT last month with their option 1 line rental 10.50 a month.
I have just had a rep from Sky round offering the see, speak, surf package which is now available in our area. If I try and sign up with Sky am I in breach of my 12 month contract with BT, or does the fact that I will still be paying line rental to BT cover that.
Sorry for maybe being thick, but I wasn't sure whether the 12 month contract covered their free eve and wkend calls package or just the line rental.
Thanks.:whistle:0 -
Make sure Sky do not take your line rental as well - tell them you want to keep paying line rental to BT and only use Sky Talk (the voice telephony part of the package on offer) as your CPS (Carrier PreSelect) calls provider. That way, you won't be in breach of contract with BT.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

I don't think that you will need a MAC number if you are moving from a mobile broadband to a land line broadband. You will just have to get Sky's ADSL put onto the BT line. They will organise that for you and advise you of your go live date. The MAC number is only required if you are changing from one land line broadband to another land line broadband so that your new provider can put their ADSL on your line.
I believe that with Sky you will still have to pay line rental to whoever you choose to provide this service for you, and that Sky's charges are for the call package only rather than line rental. Toucan offer line rental @ £8.99 inclusive of vat and also includes free weekend calls to 01, 02 or 03 numbers, plus other options.
You may wish to look at the separate options from Sky. Naturally choose whichever TV package(s) you require. VOIP and prefix codes offer very cheap call rates.
We paid a one-off £40 for Sky broadband and no monthly payments at all. That was about 15 months ago so that equates to approx £2.67 per month to date and reducing all the time. This is for 8meg.though we only receive 2meg in our area0
