My daughter who is 14 would like a laptop for christmas. She will be using it for her coursework, and for going on MSN to talk to her friends ,so nothing too expensive.
We have a very basic computer 64mb and have blueyonder broadband on that computer. What do we need to get up and running, I don't really want to ask in PC World as they will probably advise that i need some ridiculously priced laptop, and a new computer. If you post could you please keep it simple as I'm not in to comuter jargon. Thanks.

A good basic Laptop is about £399 these days, normally a 1.3 or 1.4 ghz processor, 256meg of ram, 40-60gb hard drive , DVD + cdrw drive
ok for basic surfing and word processing
sometime Dell do a Latitude 1200 or something similar that comes out at £321....keep an eye out on here for that one....it come and goes

Does the main computer have to have any minimum specifications so that the blueyonder broadband can be picked up from the laptop ? sorry it may be a daft question, but what I know about computers you could write on a postage stamp !0

no...the blueyonder disk should just load and do the set-up for you, I think Blueyonder use ehternet(Lan) connectors to the modem but even these cheap Laptops come with them so it is no problemEx forum ambassador
