Hi
I am hoping to set up a Limited company and would like to register the company. I am hoping to use a formation agent from the internet as the price is only £40 for this and saves me the hard work of filling forms in etc.
Anyway the main question is - they offer ready made companies that have been registered a year or more, these cost more money but i was wondering if it was worth having. I am hoping to arrange credit terms with suppliers, although we dont have a trading histroy would a company that was registered 2 years ago be more likely to get credit than a company registered today? Probably a simple question.
Thanks in advance for your help

It won't make any difference. The company has almost certainly never traded and been dormant.
Getting credit depends on the company's history of paying bills.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -
I'd go for a brand new company, ordered specially for you. If you get an older one, you may get stung with Companies House late filing penalties if you're not careful as the filing deadlines start from the date of incorporation, not the date you bought it, so the due filing dates may be a lot sooner than you think!
Just remember that these internet companies aren't all they seem - they don't give you any advice as to the officers nor shareholder percentages etc - they may do everything to form the company at Companies House, but they are basically working on your instruction. What they seldom do is register the company with HMRC for corporation tax, VAT nor PAYE which is where a lot of people hit problems and face penalties. I'm not saying that you shouldn't use these companies, but you do need to be aware of the other things that have to be done and the whole host of planning matters that aren't addressed by them which may cost your money in the long run if you don't set it up in the most tax-efficient manner.
I'd strongly suggest you take advantage of the free initial consultations offered by most accountants - see at least 3, get a bit of free advice from each, and then you can choose the one you feel is best for you. If you wait for several months or even until after the first year end to sort our an accountant, you will have missed some tax planning opportunities as most things can't be backdated.0 -
i know one of my ex colleagues setup their own business using quickformations.com, never had any bother with them and i believe it was setup as a brand new company
not sure on their prices, just remember thats the name of the company...£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -
Hi Awol,
dropped you a PM about the guys I used - didn't want to put the link in the thread in case it's considered spam (not linked to the company but don't usually post links so not sure of the lie of the land on that one!)

Hi Awol,
I recommend www.corpshop.com, JP Company Registrations.
They offer a really quick and efficient service.
They are very helpful and have lots of aged companies.0 -

I used http://www.companiesmadesimple.com They charge £25 + VAT for the basic service. Plus you get a £30 Adwords voucher included. I used them and they were fine.
And if you sign up to free banking with Abbey through them, you get £20 cashback.0 -
I used companiesmadesimple and it was a quick efficient service. I would recommend it.0
