please do not make assumptions about volunteers please they are very well trained have access to support and a vast information system, if a referral is needed they will make it. Your experience and knowledge is based on what?

I think cabvol ('CAB volunteer' I presume) was responding to Bat's:
Citizens Advice Bureau - please make sure you book your appointment with the specialist money advisor as many of the volunteers don’t have the necessary experience and knowledge: www.citizensadvice.org.uk

rather than trying to defend DFD'.

Its a known fact if you are going to CAB for BR advice that you see a debt advisor. No one here is saying CAB people and qualified and knowledgable but the debt specialists are just that, specialists. It was the CAB who told me this.

I'm sorry but the post does say that it implies that you should make an appointment with a specialist and not a volunteer.

no problem with contacting CAB just do not assume that the specialist is not a volunteer OK.

    lets compare

Volunteer, 25 years service working with debts clients considered an authority by many working in the field.

CLS funded debt specialist, works two day a week for the last two years often consults with above for support.

where do you think these specialists learn their skills?

As for the benefit issue mentioned impossible to reply without more details. All advisers should be able to identify relevant benefits however mistakes happen whether you are a volunteer paid or specialist. Volunteers help people to get millions of pounds of benefit each year and also deal with thousands of people in debt owing millions.

They give up their own time often in vary difficult circumstances, hardly ever get any thanks, attend constant training, meetings, often receive abuse from clients and their creditors and debt collectors.

Still if you know better fine that's up to you.

    .

Just our luck we got a bad one then:rolleyes: which is why my post implied make sure the person, volenteer or otherwise, knows what they are talking about as i know from expeariance CAB do get it wrong due to the conditions they work under, its just a fact of a poorly funded organization, not a reflection on the workers that do as good a job as they can within it

One other point that bit of text was cut and pasted from elswhere and wasnt even written by me, not that it matters because my personal expearience means i agree with it.

Bet your shoulder hurts thats one big chip:rolleyes:
