Sell as 'LOT' or individually???

Hi

Just wondering what you lot think. My little girl is wanting to sell off her Sylvanian families toys to save herself some holiday money, and we have listed them on Ebay as a large 'Lot', however some people have told me I would have been more sensible to list them individually as it may make more money. I was wondering what you all tend to do if selling a quantity of similar items?

This is her auction if it helps:

if you put the work in by listing seperatley, you can usually make a lot more money!
check for previous listings and see how much individuals went for compared to lots fir multiple items

if you've a couple of rare ones there, list them seperatley, list the common ones as a lot

i had this a while back, about 13 xbox games, they were going for 99p if at all each, put them on as one lot, and fetched 20 quid, saved a fortune

the other way round, i had a load of speccy games, werent selling as a lot, started em individually at 99p , sold most of em!
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

  • I do not know anything about SFs, but usually I only list items in bulk if I am wanting to get rid of them. People buy bulk lots on eBay in order to resell them, so it follows that they think that they can make more by selling them individually.
If the SFs are collectable and people do want to buy them, it should definitely be worth the extra effort.
It may be worth listing them all and any that do not sell (after 1 relisting maybe?), listing those as a bulk lot.
    Hope that this helps

Sorry I have had to remove the direct link as advertising own auctions is not allowed.

Can I just say though that even on broadband your auction is too large to load quickly, most people won't wait for that amount of huge photos. Also, take off the photos of your little girl, the auction is more imprtant that photos of a child and you need things to load quicker. Are you also sure that photos of your little girl are a good idea anyway?

Other than that, I hope sales go well for you.

They seem to be attracting a fair bit of interest given that there are 9 days left on the auction!

Not much you can do now anyway as you have bidders so you can't withdraw the auction. Out of interest, what kind of price were you hoping to get for them?

I'll agree and disagree with Soolin :) .......... Whilst I agree totally that including photographs of kids is not wise (for various reasons) .......... I think that when dealing with goods such as those you have for sale, your No1 tool is including lots of good quality images as you have done and thats the one thing likely to see a good sale price. ;)

    Good luck :)

I bought a job lot of radio's for 30p per unit and considered bulk auction for quick return, happily I decided against doing a job lot myself and the units sold over a period of two years netting an average price of £5.38 per unit! list individually unless your trying to dump stock!

The highest profit realised on a single unit was £10.74 and I received positive feedback for all but 27 out of 366 units and no negative feedback, I was gobsmacked to say the least. I had anticipated a return on these units of around 100% and a need to dump app 100 units, If I could get my hands on them I'd buy 5000 tommorrow, single listings every time!

ooops sorry. I wasnt trying to advertise though I promise.

I didnt realise they were taking so long to load, so will remember that next time. Cant alter it now though as we have bids.

My little girls quite happy with the price so far, we didnt really have a price in mind. See your point about the photo of her, but I am sure it will be ok as we didnt put her name on the auction, and its a harmless type of picture. In hind sight though I see your point. Thank you. :)
