Natwest Student Account

Just a quick question really. I applied for my Natwest Student Account online, got my provisional acceptance letter through the other day asking me for proof of indentification. I was under the impression I could bypass posting it off, and take it into my local branch, but they told me that wasn't possible, has to go back to their student department in Leiscester or something.

Anyway, my question is, once you'd posted the requested information, how long was it before they got back to you with an account number/card/pin number etc?

Thank you

  • Oh dear, my daughter has had such a nightmare trying to sort out mess Natwest got them selves into. We actually visited the bank and filled in all the forms, they took photo copies of the Uni acceptance letter and the UCAS letter. I should say we have banked with Natwest for many years, including my daughter so all they had to do was change her original account.

A week went by, nothing. Went back to the bank they had lost all the paperwork, so had to redo the forms, low and behold they found her original forms. Waited and waited, have online access to her account, no overdraft limit. Went back to the Bank oh will be there in the next couple of days, 3 days later overdraft appeared. Now have have not received a switch card. Currently has a solo card, so again a simple upgrade......no!!!!

Went back to the bank, could not find if anyone had even ordered a new card, chap in bank was confused, had to reorder it. Result is now card has been received only this week, but yes another problem. They have decided that she can not use the card cos she has to wiat for a new pin number, rather just an upgrade to her solo card, still not received that to date. Oh last week we also asked where the aplication form for the railcard was, they said oh that should be in the welcome pack. That was recieved yesterday, by the time we get a photo done, and sent off, it is going to be too late as she goes to uni on Sunday!! So far this has taken a month and still not there yet!!

Flippen nightmare. My advice to you would be chase them up dont leave it or you will never get it sorted. My daughter is not the only one to have had these problems. Her friends have all had some sort of problem or another.

Natwest offer this service every year, you'd have thought they would know what they are doing by now!!!

    Shame on you NATWEST

  • I recieved a letter at the beggining of this week saying my student account with Natwest is now open even gave the account details. But as I haven't had a card and as Im going to uni on Sunday I phoned them today to see where everything is after speaking to 2 people I was told to phone the accounts dept who told me that as I hadn't set up telephone banking they couldnt help me but assured me my card will be at my house by wednesday next week!! Great really useful how am i supposed to get them then 2 hours away in the middle of Wales. How long have other people had to wait for their card etc to come through
I know the rules of punctuation and grammer I just choose to ignore them (or forget them half the time)... Apologies in advance
  • Ive had no real major problems

Altho there have been conflicting things coming from the staff in branch, and those at call centres.

Just got my rail card today, and my overdraft was activated yesterday
