Is it just me, or is this a weird layout?

I was looking at this house:

http://www.rightmove.co.uk/viewdetails-21431015.rsp?pa_n=4&tr_t=buy

And on the 2nd floor, the layout is such that you have to go through a bathroom to get to a bedroom (on the floorplan).

That strikes me as very odd - having to go through the bathroom! Rather goes against the description of the house as being "well designed".

It also appears to have a "study" on the ground floor with no windows, also a bit odd.

Maybe they wanted to convert a shower room to a bathroom and the cheapest way of doing it was like that.

I agree it looks odd, I would also worry about it complying with fire regs if you now have to go through the bathroom to get to the landing.

Maybe if you have been in the study for too long, it is designed to offer the possibility of something interesting to look at in the bathroom on the way to the bedroom ... or then again maybe not.

    And all for just £1.1 million:rotfl: .

I see on the top floor the smallest bedroom has an en suite.

You'd hate to see a badly designed one wouldn't you.:D

yes. I cant really see who would want to leave that bedroom with some one from the other bedroom of that floor in the shower!!

    I like the exterior though.

The floorplan could be wrong, they may have put the bedroom door off the bathroom rather than the landing. Or, the owners turned it into a 'Jack & Jill' type of bathroom, it doesn't make it 'right' though, if thats the case.
  • hold on. i saw it first. let me get my £1.1 million out....

My parents' house has a bedroom through a bathroom - it's really viewed as an en-suite, but with hallway access in case anyone else needs it in an emergency! The family bathroom is just across the hallway.

However, in this case, it's the only bathroom without running down two flights of stairs...

I don't mind a study with no windows - used to have one down in the basement, and it was kind of peaceful / secluded. Very good for recording music too!

To do this in a house then have the audacity to ask £1.1million for it without blinking an eye .... morons

I suspect the owner has that whole floor as their bedroom+dressing room+bathroom. And it just looks odd now as their dressing room is being sold as a bedroom in its own right.

You may well be right. Because the bedroom wouldn' t be much use - someone in that room would be stuck there for the duration as someone else had a lesiurely shower!
