doing a daily diary now of our aim to munch our way through £30000 something of debt.
on another post i did my soa ..not much change to it but can budget less than the £400 stated for grocieries.
main plan - to be debt free within 3/4 years or less so that we can move house.
mini plan and first on the list is to tackle vanquis of £493.02 paying £50 (rather than mini payment of £22) by direct debit so that we dont notice it coming out.
going by the snowball that will finish in june 2009 (too long but hopefully extra funds at some point along the line will dive in and gobble the debt up).
need to make that phone call to vanquis then make those truffles that the kids love !( uses porridge oat, butter, syrup sugar i think , coconut) these are absolutely yummy!

truffles made! just consists of butter/marg, sugar, milk then coconut , porridge oats, drinking choc or cocoa powder added. my mum used to make these for birthdays....absolutely scrummy! you are meant to roll them into balls then into coconut but htats too much faffing about that i dont have time for so what i do is to spread it out in a tray then top with some melted chocolate to hold it together. doubt will be ready by half twelve but i tried!
vanquis update....standing order sent up for first payment of £50.50 then fifty monthly after that. i did phone but they said direct debit its either for mini payment or for full amount in full each month. really looking forward to seeing that go down.
next update...still waiting for the extra payments to come back into our account...funny how they are quick to take funds out but not so quick at putting them back. thats up till mon so the sooner its back the better.
pay days are next week...done a lot of hours last month so hoping its better than i estimated for. it usually comes into the bank the day before its due as its with the same bank. roll on wednesday! hubbies is on fri so he is expecting more but again have to wait till then. will keep a better note of hours / bonuses so we know what amount should come in each month give or take.
going to do a wee signature so better see what i am meant to be doing!0 -
Excellent, you're off to a great start

thanks guys! hope you are both doing well yourselves!
going to do the clicks...just waiting for one lot of info to come so hoping it comes by tonight for some bedtime reading!!
i did a small budget for school packed lunches....what we were needing was £15 approx so budgeted £15. went shopping this morning to tescos after work and got the drinks/yoghurts/one lot of biscuits in then to the local shop for rolls for the freezer. i budgeted for one lot of chicken but decided to get two ...its those flavoured chicken which is the only kind my lot like for lunches. one of the kiddies wanted crisps so need to get a small multi pack of salt and vinegar but the other kiddie didnt want any. prob some stuff will be left for next week so it will be high one week but low the following week. went over by a couple of pounds though i just remembered. hmm reciept in the bin so cant properly check...do remember scanner showing 12.75 for the chicken/drinks/biscuits plus the yoghurt which was 1.75 so thats 14.50. rolls would be 3.00 approx then crisps £1 approx and another lot of drinks £2.29 making grand total of 20.29...so much for being a few pounds over lol!having said that though half of those drinks will be for next week. for two kiddies its two drinks for milk time a day (they wont drink milk) so ten a week then ten more for the packed lunches. looking around for something that is nice and strong to contain drinks...i know reusable plastic bottles is the brainwave but i doubt i will get these back although i could buy the school sports bottle which are a pound each to put diluting juice in so thats a good thought. yip prob do that on mon.
vanquis standing order set up for 1st june...think i said that already so apologies! hubbies credit report shows a previous vanquis balance of £2.00 so we need to get a letter sent out closing that account down for good. also need one to go to empire....i got some stuff last year which was paid off in full a while ago (it was a very low amount)opened the account at the time for some bargain stuff that was going at the time.
kiddie 2 was wanting a playstation game so went through quidco to play.com to havfe a look and ending up getting 3 pc games for a tenner plus kiddie 1 's birthday present. not sure if will get cashback on games but i tried!
wish the days would roll on quicker! keen to see that first fifty quid making some sort of dent in the vanquis balance!0 -
I love truffles!!! Can't go for the coconut bit though cos I don't like coconut. I always leave the mini Bounty's in the Celebrations boxes, so everyone at work always knows when I've been at the choccies!
I shall read your diary with interest and hopefully it will keep me motivated.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Truffles
6oz margarine / butter
8 tablespoons sugar
4 tablespoons milk
15 tablespoons coconut
9 tablespoons porridge oats
6oz drinking chocolate or half quantity cocoa powder
Melt the margarine/butter, sugar and milk. Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl.
When ingredients melted add to ingredients in bowl...mix. Place in fridge to cool. Roll into walnut sized balls then into coconut or chocolate strands. If wanted can place in small paper cases
thankyou for reading! thats the recipe i use so you could just add more oats to the mixture and take the coconut out or add nuts/fruit to the same quantity as the coconut for a different way.
totally forgot i still had that in the fridge!! hubby loves it with melted dairy milk on top...i prefer the rolled balls .0 -

still waiting for a password to come so not sure when we will be debt free. it was meant ot have been 2 yrs 9 mths but i forgot to add on two loans so will be talking about another year or so added onto the orginal time scale. but husband gets bonus/overtime which ahs not been included in income because its not always guaranteed so that will be thrown at the debt0 -
well latest breaking news is that a couple of hours ago we discovered our bank acc blocked. tax credits had just gone in today so its left a bad taste to the end of our day but i am sure its something that can be easily resolved.
posted a separate post on it so many thanks to those who took the time to reply to it....
aggghhhhhhhhhhh!
just venting my frustations!!:D0 -
thursday 9th october update
went into the bank this morning...acc closed as its under the debt management plan.
i got £680 out for living expenses for this month. its going to be a long wait till next mth to see if all the various incomes have gone to the other new acc.
was meant ot have paid the first payment to cccs yesterday so another job to do for today is to contact them and explain whats been going on.0 -
post just arrived. a letter from barclaycard says this
" thankyou for contacting us. unfortunately we cannot accept your proposal in relation to the outstanding debt as it is against our policy to allow repayment of an account to end. we require that payments are maintained on any account with an outstanding balance."
no idea what the proposal was/is but by the sound of the above the proposal was to completely close the acc and not pay anything. they do ask that we contact them to discuss repayment options.0
