We were always polite and always took the calls. We kept repeating the same thing and they didnt want to hear it. As far as I am concerned we did all we could in the situation. Ringing our neighbours crossed the line.

Ringing the neighbours is appalling. Glad you didn't let them get away with it and neither did the person I spoke to and MBNA stopped chasing their debt as well after massive complaints. You would think that they would learn their lesson if they keep having to pay compensation.

Ask them to only contact you by writing and pass the letters onto the CCCS to deal.

I've just had a text message from Debt Managers to ask me to call them. They offered a early settlement fig of £5500 and wanted my card details to take payment!! As if I had that amount of money... He got quite agressive when said no way. Then asked me what my occupation was - I said he didnt need to know. Then said if had any dependants, again told him not applicable. "So you are refusing to give me these details, I need them as its a pre court debt". I said if ever came to that stage I would fill it on the court form instead!!

They are complete sods. I've been asked all sorts of personal questions and when they ask what my occupation is and I tell them I work in the Finance industry and have contacts at the FOS and various regulatory bodies (as I deal with complaints), they back off a bit!

CCCS don't tend to deal with the letters. I've been with CCCS for a few months now and I've never been asked to send them any letters that I have received. I've just rung them and they've told me how to deal with it.

MBNA are an absolute nightmare to deal with.
They kept phoning a family member of mine (I used her phone number when i opened account because i didnt have a phone at the time and they insisted on a phone number), they phoned many times and every time they were told that i was no longer available on the number they had. One call they made was very abusive they were told that no i wasnt there then they said to family member that they knew they were talking to me and not to be a liar (baring in mind that they never asked a security question to verify) she couldnt get him to listen so she passed it to her husband who again told told them that i was no longer there, when husband asked who was calling they said "Im from MBNA and mrs xx owes us xxxx".

Thats the clean version of the conversation by the way because he was very abusive even swearing .

I wrote to MBNA to complain and asking for transcript of conversation but lo and behold that particular phone call was no kept (surprise surprise), the written part MBNA kept for their records which they sent me was a pack of lies apparently they were angels going by the book.

MBNA BE VERY CAREFUL. NEVER TALK TO THEM ON THE PHONE. PUT EVERYTHING IN WRITING

Companies should be workking via cccs now anyway. Don't be intimidated and take the constructive pieces of advice you've been offered, such as don't talk to them on the 'phone etc etc You've done the best thing by going to CCCS to get everything under control.

    Best wishes ;)
One step at a time ;)
  • both mbna and halifax have been nightmares for me... i told them to remove my number, which they didn't.... mbna called the girlw ho took over my job three times having been told i don't work there anymore... luckily she is very good friend who told them to eff off!!! when i called to complain that they shouldn't have been calling they were rude and ggressive and argued with me about my new job earning less... didn't matter that my old job won't exist in two months so i left at first op!! got told to get second job, or do overtime, then they sent me a ''pre court letter'' which cccs told me to reply to in writing but not to worry as i'd never had a default notice off them... they seem to try anything to get u to pay and to scare you... so i ignore them now!! or send snotty letters back lol! Halifax have also been rude and aggressive, sadly i messed up and missed my cccs payment last month so it's all a bit messed up! But am going to pay cccs and carry on as i have been!! just keep talking to cccs and stay strong!!! you'll be fine :-)
