MBNA phonecall

Hi everyone,

Have recently been in contact with CCCS and have now written to MBNA and Halifax asking them to accept pro rata payments, have today received a call (answerphone message) from a woman from MBNA asking me to call 'it would be in your best interest to call' .... are they trying to coax me in to call them? should I call or should I leave it?!

Don't know what to do, am very scared

Leave it. They are trying to persuade you into paying more than your offer via CCCS.

If they call again and actually get you, reiterate that youare with CCCS and they have been offered the maximum pro rata payment you can afford. Also insist that all further contact is made in writting.

You will probably find halifax do the same soon. Just stick to your guns and you will be fine.We are all here for moral support when you need it.

Definitely leave it as LP says they will only put pressure on you to pay more than you can afford. if you do pick up the phone when they or any creditors rings politely tell them you are with CCCS and give them your CCCS number and hang up. while your DMp is being set up you will probably get lots of calls but they do tail off once your dmp is up and running., im presuming you are setting up a dmp with CCCS?

    Thank you both :)

I will leave my CCCS number by the phone then, just incase, saying that it does seem a long time since I have picked up the phone!!

At the moment I have so little money to offer it will take 13 years to pay off! but I have a secured loan coming out of my money, that my partner can't take off me yet -once he can (and we are working on that) the CCCS told me to ring them back and they can set up a formal dmp through them, if that makes sense?

Two of the worst creditors to have, don't phone them and if halifax are as much of a nightmare with you as they were with us change your number.

MBNA are an absolute nightmare. Once they even got hold of our next door neighbours number and rang them and got them to pass on a message that they were trying to get in touch with us and that our phone didnt seem to be working (which was utter rubbish as they had spoken to hubby the day before). I believe this particular person at MBNA was just trying to pee us off by doing this, embarassing us or something. I went ape and complained to the world and his wife. Needless to say, a compensation cheque arrived a month later!

I'm on a DMP with CCCS and Halifax have been a nightmare with me. I have caller display and know their number so don't answer the phone when they ring and just delete their messages now. I got a bit fed up with constantly repeating the situation to them. They soon gave up ringing me so they write to me now

I've heard MBNA get up to dirty tricks like that and somebody else told me something similar happened to them. MBNA are my largest creditor and so far they've left me alone since February. Maybe I have it all to look forward to:mad:
