Gazunder or not?

  • Jo, Sorry but just because you are getting on a bit has absolutely no bearing on whether ToothWiz should gazunder or not. Is Gazundering illegal?, no, unethical maybe, but that's a completely different argument. It isn't ethical to try and get more for your property than it's worth in the current market.

Thats' part of your "Karma" a year ago people where gazumping all over the place, and now it's the gazunderers turn.

It has nothing to do with self-respect, self respect doesn't pay the mortgage or get you out of negative equity through paying above the odds for a property. So you get put on an Estate Agents blacklist who cares? They are clambering for business at the moment as the market dies, and as soon as they get the scent of money that list will go out the window.

As for being dropped by your solicitor, sorry but when has that ever happened, when a client is not doing anything illegal, plus it isn't exactly difficult to find a new one.

ToothWiz should definitely renegotiate/gazunder, call it what you will, why should he pay over the odds for a house in a falling market it doesn't make economic sense. And if the owner doesn't like it he is under NO OBLIGATION to take the new offer.
