I have just got my BT phone bill. They are giving away free stickers to "Stop unwanted, intrusive and irritating callers knocking at your door/ringing your bell."
Presumably the idea is to deter salespeople trying to get you to move you phone requirements elsewhere.Or am i being cynical.
To get a sticker call 0800 169 8585.Have your BT account number at hand as they ask for it.

you know the one " I see your call usage has gone down would there be a particular reason for that " Signing up to the TPS wont stop these calls .0 -
I already use a sign when OH sleeping asking if their call is really necessary as shift worker asleep. Next to door bell, A5 size in colour with a night time picture. You wouldn't believe the number of people who still ring the bell.
Today the man from SWALEC. After politely declining to tell him who my current supplier was as it's none of his business (didn't tell him that :money: had set me straight) and 2 no thank you not interested I just had to slam the door in his face. Why won't they just give up.

It may sound cynical, but you are probably right.
I assume you phoned this number. Did they try to sell you anything else (after all they are BT)? If not, then it's definitely to deter the competitor salespeople.
Cold-calling salespeople selling telephone call services are easy to get rid of anyway as soon as you mention 1899 or 18866. Some haven't heard of them yet but as soon as you tell them what the prices are, they're half way back up the drive before you can finish your sentence!0 -
I have received one in the post this very day.
I have also received an ever so polite letter from British Gas saying how sorry they are that they have to put up the charges. Happily, my average quarterly gas bill is £15.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -
£15!!!!
BLOODY HELL -- youre not the old lady who lived in a shoe are you??0 -
No I am not the old lady who lives in a shoe!!
I have NO central heating. I do not want it as I feel better in cool temperatures.
I use a small, wall mounted gas heater in the main room plus electric heaters when needed. In particularly cold weather I also leave a gas ring on low in the kitchen - only when I am in, of course!
My average electricity bill is £45. I practice much energy saving not because of the money (if I feel cold I do turn the heat up!), but because I believe in doing my part, however small, to help the planet. The saved money is just a bonus.

Heh does the sticker actually have the BT logo or mention BT anywhere on it?
Even if it doesn't, these door-door salespeople will soon find out that these stickers that they're seeing on front doors were supplied by BT, which indicates to them that the customers are on BT, which means that they are still going to ring the bell and try to offer their "BT-beating tariffs" !!
Yes, these sticker-owning BT customers may well be using alternative services like 1899, but the salespeople don't know that, and they'll take their chances. Anything for a bit of commission, eh?0
