Just ordered a psp value pack from https://www.yesasia.com for £152.17.
They have free standard delivery and pay the import VAT for uk customers.
I have used them before for games and the have always been reliable.

Could anyone offer me some advise/information please?
If I order something from this site how do they go about paying the VAT and import duty?
Also just on a more general note, if I purchase from outside the UK and I use a credit card, will I be charged for any conversion of currency. Also which site is most accurate for currency rates (that credit companies, etc. use)?
Sorry about all the questions and thanks in advance if anyone has any answers
P.S. Any vouchers as they have the facility on their site?0 -
They have a warehouse in the UK i think, whatever you order gets posted to their warehouse, so they pay the VAT and import duty. They then post the item to you. I ordered a PSP from them a few weeks ago, I got it in 7 days.
It might be worth knowing that if you do buy a PSP from them you won't get any warranty as it only covers items located in Japan or wherever you're buying it from.Maybe you're the same as me, we see things they'll never see...0 -

Did you have to pay any form of tax on the PSP from Yesasia?I have only ever bought a £10 item from them before, but am afraid that a more expensive item may incur import duties/ tax.0 -

Nope just paid the price of the PSP, which was £140 for a basic pack.

sorry, just popped away for a moment. Thanks for the replies and thanks again for being so quick.
so if they if they have a warehouse in the UK, there shouldn't be any risk of VAt, etc.
Do you mind if I ask how you paid, I'm just a little unsure if my credit card company will charge me a fee with Yesasia being outside the UK/Europe. All prices are charged in US dollar, so I don't know if they will charge me to convert the currency.0 -
.... getting hit with import duties.
Is it worth the risk when you are only saving £26 ???0 -

There's 3 posts on this thread saying you don't pay import duties when buying from yesasia.com, plus a link to the website itself saying they'll pay all custom duties...anyhow I paid using a debit card. The only problem I had was that they had trouble verifying it was my card, so I had to send them a copy of the front and back of it. They tell you to cover up the numbers and signature strip, which I did. All I showed was my name and last 5 digits of the card. If you're not happy doing that I think there's an option to pay by paypal.Maybe you're the same as me, we see things they'll never see...0 -
I can also confirm that there's no chance of getting hit with customs charges with Yesasia on their standard delivery service. They guarantee it, even in the unlikely event that you do get charged, they will refund you.
Couple of tips -
1) Pay via Paypal if you can then you don't have the bother of going through their security process for credit cards.
2) Don't buy if you have any warranty concerns, Sony UK will not look at import machines. You may be able to get warranty via Yesasia but you'll have to fork out for postage costs and potentially long waiting times.0 -
I have been using Yesasia for years, mainly for region 3 dvds and have never encountered any problems. They ship from Asia into distribution centres in the UK and your order is shipped from within the UK. I usually pay via Paypal; there's no additional charge for converting currency.I have the mind of a criminal genius. I keep it in the freezer next to Mother....0
