Financial support with Post grad Cert courses

HELP. I have been accepted to do a Post Graduate Certificate in Dyslexia Studies, but don't know what funding apart from the student loan I am entitled to. I have an unseen disability, so I know I can get help with likes of a computer etc but what about financial support?

there is very little money available for postgraduate education. you can get funding for some masters (usually linked to phds) or a straight phds. some places offer graduate teaching assistant posts so you help with some undergraduate teaching as a part time job while you study (have a look at jobs.ac.uk or contact your department).

aside from that, it's usually all about part time work, a year of solid work to save up or a career development loan. the student loan company doesn't offer loans for postgraduate training......

I'm afraid that student loans aren't available for postgraduate study. Are you talking about a Career Development Loan, as this is something completely different.

If you are studying for this as a qualified teacher, you will be able to apply for a subsidy against your fees from the Training and Development Agency for Schools.
