Missing Parrot - Suffolk - Ipswich - Bramford

Hi guys,

Just thought i'd post on the off chance that some of you live in suffolk,
On sunday the 18.05.08 our parrot flew out of the door in Bramford where we live.
He has since been seen on tuesday and wednesday quite close to our house.
He is an Orange - winged Amazon called Archie, He is green with orange wing bits on his wings, he also has beautiful blue and fred in his tail.
He has yellow around his eyes.
He sings, whistles the theme tune to the adams family and can talk, he is also a screamer.
If anyone knows anyone here can you tell them, i have leafleted all over, posted posters on lamp posts, contacted local press, animal charities, rspca, etc.
Your help appriciated as he is a part of our family and we miss him greatly.

Pm me if any info.
thanks
Vics

Vics, I sincerely hope Archie comes back asap.

When he does reappear (and I am sure he will) maybe you could teach him some new words, as per this parrot:

I'm sorry to hear about Archie - I hope he finds his way home to you soon. It might be worth listing his details on Parrots magazine's 'lost and found' online section: www.parrotsmag.com

Do you have a local paper that might take an interest? If you have a photo for them then even better.

Good Luck and I hope Archie comes home soon.

I used to have a African Grey call Alfie who we lost I managed to find his paperwork which had his identification number on it (this on the tag around his foot) and rang the number quoted on his paperwork to report him missing. Someone rang over a week later to say he had been found.

Have you got the paperwork for his identification tag?

    Might be worth a try.

I hope he comes home soon.

Hi everyone, thanks for all of your replys,
Mrs Bogroll - Thanks for your message. Appriciate the link.

Feather - i have already contacted them and he is now on there list.

Penny Watcher - he has already been in the paper. will get him in next week again if not back by then.

LJS2000 - He has a tag/ring but the trouble is we kind of rescued him so didn't get the paperwork we should have, mind you i know the breeder so i could make contact. Will look into that.

KR15snr - Its really horrible, you just can't do enough if ya know what i mean. But its good weather and hopefully as long as he has a food source (i,e someones garden) he should be ok, He was sighted in our village on Tuesday and Wednesday so thats good news atleast.

Thanks everyone, appriciate your ideas and thoughts.
    Thanks

A couple more things to think about. If he hasn't flown before, he may not recognise his home from the outside and in any case is probably disorientated. Would it be possible to put any of his cage/playstand/food dishes outside along with his favourite treats - toys and especially food? Water too. Unlikely, but do you have any tapes of him singing, whistling etc? If so, could you play these outside (I'm sure neighbours would be understanding in the circumstances)? Best time would probably be dusk, when he'll be looking for somewhere to roost.

Even if he does come close, he may be scared to come down from a high perch in a tree and fly away if anyone tries to 'grab' him. It sounds mean, but if that happens and encouragement doesn't work, you could try getting him wet (garden hose) - he can't fly far with soaked feathers. Make sure you are talking to him all the time so he isn't too shocked. Then take him down quickly and safely in a towel/blanket, put him in a warm room indoors and give him lots of his favourite food, water and a big cuddle. Please let us know when he gets back home.

Just wondered if your Amazon had come home, or been spotted? It must be a very anxious time. Thinking of you.
