Repossession - How Long Does it Take?

Hi,

On a slightly different note, I have just received a possession notice informing me that my landlord has a hearing for a possession order next month.

Does anyone know what this will mean for us? How long can we legally stay in the property? Can I stop paying rent as I'm pretty sure we wont be getting the deposit back now?

Well, i did have my letter, probably in the region of a month ago, and i was given 14 days to produce and return a statement for the judge. Things start to move very quikly when the claimants solicitor get involved., thats the time to worry.They try and contact you a few times, then send you a letter telling you they've tried to contact you, and literaly the next day i received the letter with the court date.They don't mess about. It all happened in less than a week. I was'nt going to go to court, as i don't think i can cope with the added stress of being totally alone in a goldfish bowl, but i've now been strongly advised to go, as i might ' buy ' myself some more time, as i still have nowhere to live.

I'm mystified as to how long it will be before i'm evicted,, i was under the impression it could be as little as 14 days, possibly 28 days, if i'm lucky, but i'll let you know on tuesday, since all this is new to me.
