Account needed for allotment association

Our allotment association has been asked to open up a bank account into which at least £500.00 a year would be paid in and kept there for quite a lot of the year. The account would have to have a cheque book only, no debit or credit card would be required, although two people would be needed to sign each cheque.
Can anybody recommend an account that would suit us? We wouldn't want to pay an annual fee, but would need to pay in cash locally.
Is there anything interesting out there?
Thanks.
