    Seems like a poor product.
Funny thing is I bought a bottle of fairy power spray, expecting mircales....... It also said do not use on enamel, or many other surfaces you usually find in the home. Sort of pointless! It sort of cleaned my BBQ, which was the reason I got it, but no more than anything else would have.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

I'm tempted to report the advert to the ASA- the bit where it reckons that 'limescale is simply calcium that sticks' is, not to put too fine a point on it, utter bullsh1t; the bit where it shows a lump of solid calcium effervescing is just plain misleading.

Right. I've referred it to the ASA with the following explanation:

"The cliam that 'limescale is just calcium that sticks' is basically a lie. Limescale is in fact mostly calcium carbonate, a completely different substance to pure calcium. The advert then goes on to show a lump of solid calcium effervescing in a pink solution, and continues 'and if solid calcium dissolves this fast, imagine how Cillit Bang works on taps and sinks'. This is a nonsensical comparison, as substances that react with pure calcium (among them plain water) will react quite differently with calcium carbonate. In short, this advert uses blatantly incorrect scientific claims to sell its product, and as such should be censured as soon as possible. It's not as if the claims are doubtful, they are simply wrong as anyone with a Chemistry A-Level (or even GCSE) will tell you."

Yes I did misspell 'claim' unfortunately. Nonetheless, I'll be VERY irritated if the ASA reject my complaint >:(.

  • I applied my usual rule to this product:

If something needs to be advertised on television, YOU usually DON'T need it.

I am always wary of any product that uses an expensive advertising campaign, because a lot of the product cost will go towards this. Primetime advertising doesn't come cheap!

I have tried this stupid cleaner. Like everyone says, it smells nasty, its totally rubbish and the name is plain daft. Also, the spraying bit on my bottle didn't work properly so the pink froth leaked everywhere >:( I have gone back to Mr Muscle Multi Surface - my personal favourite :)

Fairy Power Spray is pants too.
I'm only smiling coz I don't know what's going on
