Were going through the process of emigrating to New Zealand, My partner (were not married) has a 3 year old son who we'll be taking with us, His father (they were not married) has said he would not object, Is there a legal form we need signing or any other paperwork that would make it official, I'm concious of the fact he may withdraw his consent to make things awkward.
I believe he has PR as he is on the birth certificate but he rarely (once this year) sees his son and is very good at NOT paying maintenance.
Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look at the websites you mentioned, were going to have a look around when we get there, the other half lived in Kerikeri for a while, I've had interest of Mckay electrical in whangerei but we dont want to commit ourselves just yet, What did you think of the area you were in and if it's not to personal can I ask why you came back? Reading some of the immigration forums the cost of living has risen quite a lot in recent years, any thoughts or information you could give regarding NZ would be greatfully received.

Crikey - I don't know what the above post is about. I will just ignore.
I am from NZ (obviously!) and yes it is a lovely place. I was from the south island and i prefer it to the north. It is quieter and more beautiful. But if you want good work prospects then the North island is better.
I cam e here because my husbnad is british, but i don't think i would go back in a hurry. you have to be really certain because it is completely different in terms of lifestyle. it is a slower pace and evrything takes longer and is more expensive. (except fruit and veg)
But they (we) do love the brits and you will have no trouble fitting in if that is the lifestyle you like.
best of luck!0 -
