thanks again for all the posts, you words are of great comfort.
Took another step just spoke to CCCS, what can I say, lovely just lovely. I thought they would be harsh and tut tut not at all. It's going to be a !!!!! for very many years but I can't see any other way, only me to blame.
Will have to learn what is in my purse is all I have to spend if it's not there then can't have it end of.
Is a very long time and good thing this plan changes with circumstances, that relieved me.
Anyone on this plan, have they found it all ok? Honestly? I guess at anytime BR is the only other option as it is today.0 -
Im on a DMP there is a huge dmp thread somewhere, good luck with rhe dmp and freedom.Debt free and plan on staying that way!!!!0

Have grave concerns about DMP after reading this site. Can anyone answer my questions 1) It appears more interest gets added to debts as lenders do not seem to be to helpful, is this true? 2) What if lenders say no to payments offered by CCCS? 3) Are CCJ's automatic with a DMP? 4) What if lenders say no and issue CCJ and demand more or a lot more money than being offered by CCCS what happens, who wins, you or them? 5) What is worst case senario? 6) Rent contract says I will be taken to Court and evicted if am made BR or enter a voluntary arrangement with creditors, does this mean an IVA or would a DMP also be covered in vol arrangement to? 7) Mobile phone contract can you keep it, if not how do you get out of 10 mths of it? 8) car ins paid monthly is this a form of credit, will it have to stop as I do not have money to pay off the balance if not cont as monthly payment? Soz for all questions. I am so grateful to anyone who can help answer etc worried that so many being chased for more money every year does that mean more CCJ's or what......is it not time Government stepped in and said they have to accept DMP and freeze interest and charges?0

Hi amw. I'm on a DMP with CCCS at the moment. Creditors generally do freeze interest but they are not necessarily obliged to - most of my creditors froze interest with little fuss. A DMP is not legally binding so creditors can still take you to court. Some lenders are a nightmare, I currently have one that I am dealing with but just tell them I am on a DMP and they can't have any more money. If lenders say no - CCCS will keep sending the payments to them anyway as they generally find that lenders accept the payments eventually.
No, CCJ's are not definite in a DMP. Many courts will see that you are trying to pay your debts back and therefore will not always award a CCJ and it is unlikely that a court will ask you to pay more than you are already paying in your DMP. If a CCJ is issued, the lender cannot ask for more money without going through the courts first.
I think a DMP would be classed as a voluntary arrangement.
Can't answer your other questions, but I pay my car insurance in the same way as you and I've just carried on paying monthly by direct debit.
Hope this helps a little bit. I'm sure some experts will be along to help out more.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

Nothing is ever guaranteed butbeing pro-active will always stand in good stead SHOULD you find any of the creditors decide to try and take you to court for a CCJ. I think the biggest part is to be brutally honest if it happens and make sure you attend the hearing and tell them why you ended up in a mess and what you have done to fix it and repay it.
As for your flat situation... I would really not worry about this unless the landlord raises it. Rent counts as one of your essential outgoings so you shouldn't fall behind with this and there is little reason for the LL to find out really... SHOULD they go down the route of evicting you then you can get housing through your council which might be the best long term plan at any rate...
What I'm trying to say is - don't worry about it until it becomes an issue. I think a DMP might be the best way forward but you could try for the next couple of months to manage with just a VERY cut budget - espeially the food budget - that HAS to come down - fussy eaters will have to learn to be unfussyDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Thanks again for your valued replies.
With regards to rent, it is taken from my bank acc 4 days before I am paid, have always used o/d to cover the payment for 4 days! LL will not move SO date owing to him not getting the money in time for 1 of every month. Now, how do I get around this as when I open basic account I will have no O/D facility to bide me time with 4 days. He is a bit of funny sod and doubt he would allow me to make a cash payment directly into his account the day I get paid or in any case by last day of every month! Don't have cheque book and won't on basic account, also as we know they are things of the past.
I don't want to discuss anything with him owing to clause!
I have to change from monthly DD to quarterly bills or monthly go into the bank payments for my utility bills. Do I just cancel DD without telling them or do I tell them I want to switch and have cancelled DD so don't call for it. Have to cancel them by 1 of month. Am in debit with my Gas as min monthly payments have not been enough of the last two large bills....gas hikes and winter.I can't pay them the debit but if going to quartely will they expect it today or will they add it to my bill that would be due in July and give it me in one big statement? No idea about utility bills. I did DD monthly as thought would be easier!
Sorry, no one answered whether I can keep my mobile phone contract or if I am expected to get shot of it? Not that it's possible.0 -
If you are thinking of entering a DMP, I can say I found it a great relief to find that I had money for priority bills (rent, utilities, food etc) instead of paying debts and having nothing left over. (we are with CCCS)
I'm not sure if this is workable BUT open a new basic bank account, which is what CCCS suggest (not connected to any of your creditors - if you post who your debts are with, someone should be able to advise which banks to avoid)
Have your wages paid into new bank account.
cancel all s/o & d/d from old account once new account is up & running.
Your rent goes out at end of month before your wages go in so that will be one of the last transactions on your old account. This overdraft then becomes one of the debts that are on your DMP.
CCCS recommend writing to your creditors saying that you are entering a DMP with them and sending a token payment for the first month, until DMP payments can be set up.
This gives you breathing space to set up D/D's for your priority payments and allows you to use the money from your wages to have the money for that months bills BEFORE you need to pay them (as opposed to robbing peter to pay paul which is what normally happens)
most utility companies will accept change of bank details by phone, others you may need to do by post.
It won't be an easy way out, and you may get hassle, but you are not on your own, there are loads of us here:D
can't help with phone contract, sorry. don't know anything about those.
good luck0 -
can I ask why you are changing to quarterly bills for gas & electric?0

Thanks.
Only thing guaranteed in on a set date is my wages. Other things I am entitled are paid four weekly, so dates are variable. Wages going would only cover rent, c/ins and DMP. Which meant I was left with £80 for shopping etc until rest comes in, obviously with no cards or o/d thought dd would be impossible as cannot set a date in the month when I know for a fact all the money will be in there to cover them, I will get the money for them through the month.
Think I have solved problem with rent as going to open same account in bank as LL. Rang them they said money would go across the same day so won't have the four day problem.
I am hoping to start plan july however, I am having to hourn my debts for this month as I can't think straight how I cancel stuff and get it all set up so it all goes really smoothly. Problem I have, is having to big payments coming straight out of my account with bank...needless to say they will have their money as soon as my money goes in....so am stuck with that one.
Opening new account Tuesday. Does anyone know if the big lenders use banks or do they use building socities too?
I know B/C is Barclays
G/Fish is now Barclays
Next?
Dell?
It's all scary but as you all say, I am not alone and so glad your all here to help and advise.0
