Thanks a lot to all of you - It has given me something to think about - the new pc, which will have xp home, which I like, is being installed next tuesday, so I think I will have a go at installing Linux, of whichever flavour I choose,on the old one after that rather than dumping it immediatly.
I appreciate the idea of dual booting and if I like what I see of Linux I will seriously think of doing that with the new pc, but think I will play with the old one first.
