travel insurance - Columbus Direct or Atlas Direct?

hey, have whittled the travel insurance down to 2:

Columbus Direct

or

Atlas Direct

for our trip to Mexico in 4 weeks time.

I'm hopeless with insurance and can't see a big difference between the two policies. They're more or less around the same price also.

Anyway, does anyone know which is more 'reliable' when it comes to paying out, in the event of a claim?

Does one of them have a better reputation than the other?

Thanks for any help/advice at all.

friendly bump - any opinions on either of the two insurance companies above? Really, I just need someone to say " go with ________, they're better" :rolleyes:

Try Direct Travel Insurance. Have used them for many years particularly to go skiing - still £20 per person in Europe. Just for your information, in the event of a claim, your Travel Insurer is likely to go to your Home Insurance Company for help in any pay out. This is done without the customer's knowledge but I understand is quite a common occurance.

I have been using Atlas insurance for the last couple of years, mainly because they were recommended by which in the best buy category for families. my husband has mild asthma and they covered this for a minimal amount extra following a phone call.

Columbus insurance are on the which website for best buys this year so all comes down to comparison cost for cost.

haven't( fortunately) had to make a claim so can't help there, but Atlas insurance very easy to buy. just watch out for the extras...printing documents and credit card payments etc.
