its so frustrating :( I had to apply for lots in a short period of time as was going to Oz and wanted to have enough to get an emergency flight home on a credit card!

I will get one of the evil cards, ensuring my DD is set up properly and hopefully build up a good history in the next few months. Mortgage will be in the next 12 months so fingers crossed.

is it a good idea to get a sub prime lending card anyway regardless of the fact i have 2 credit cards at the moment (which are frequently IN credit!) ??

Btw, Like George and DH say, lenders use different criteria on determining who to lend to, so before you start applying for motgages make sure you are on the electoral roll of where you are currently living, and that you have a checkable and steady employment record. This all helps in addition to credit history.

    Good luck :j

Do you use those 2 cards regularly? You need to be making small purchases with them and paying them off regularly. I think if they are lying dormant that doesn't really help :o

yea they do, eventually. If you've been a student for 7 years sureley you'll be earning a fortune now eh?! Architect?

Anyway...... if you already have a card (sorry I don't always read in full), or two, the same principle applies. Like sammy says, use one or both for a small amount every month, and pay off in full.

Have you lived at your current address for long? I know that they like you to have lived in the same place for a while. Are you on the electoral roll? Do you have a mobile phone contract as they appear on your credit file, so that could help your case? If yes to all above then maybe it would be worth getting the 30 day free trial with experian to make sure that there isn't any fraudulent activity on your report? Just a thought??

    • Lived here my whole life
    • does being on the electoral roll mean that I have the voting card? if so - yes I am :D
    • my contract is in my mommas name as I was only a nipper when I got my phone (not 18!!)
Hmm good idea. Last time i checked it did seem to be just the cards id applied for? hmmm  it might be better now after the 12months of credit cards (and 1 late payment boo hiss direct debits!)
