Wrong Spelling of Name Affecting Credit score

Hi, i wasnt sure if this was the right place to post this but i wanted to highlight how a wrongly spelled name can cause hassle.
My husband bought a car and got finance, they spelt his name Obrian (his surname is O'Brien). He paid his instalments on time with no defaults and then got a bank loan to pay off the balance (name spelt correctly). He then paid off the bank loan with no defaults.
Then we decided to go for a bigger car as our family expanded, and because of some mix up, they said he was a high risk because there was nothing on his credit report, and the interest rate on the car was over 30%, so despite him paying off a bank loan and a loan from a finance company this seems to count as nothing on his rating, we are not behind on any payments such as gas/electric so this couldnt be why they thought he was a bad risk and he has been in permanent employment for over 10 years.
I have heard some computer systems cannot recognise the apostrophe in the name and just miss it out, which in turn is not the correct spelling of the name, which in turn will show up as not being on the electoral register.
What do you suggest we do, shall we write to experian telling them of the finance loan paid off in full but it was in the name of Obrian instead of O'Brien
and get them to amend his credit files or can this not be done??
By the way, I have a Next account but they spell my name Obrien!!!

I'm sure this affects many people for example the surname McDonald could be spelt Macdonald, MacDonald, Mcdonald, all pronounced the same!!!!!!!!!
