We're in the process of buying a house and are looking to get some mortgage protection. At the moment my husband is working in Russia - but he's with a UK registered company. Will this make a big difference? I've been looking online and when I try and get a quote, all i've ever found is that if you work abroad then you usually can't get cover from them. I've only looked at a few companies and I haven't actually spoken to anyone yet. I was offered cover by our bank but it was quite expensive - about £54 a month for cover on a £940 mortgage. Of course i'd like to get it cheaper if I can.
Also, my dh is working at the moment and won't be home until a week before we move and i'm wondering if this is enough time to get cover. I can't sign up for insurance in his name.
