In an earlier post I included two hotel brokers websites.Might be an idea to contact at least one of them direct as you are travelling outside the main holiday period and so
they may well do you a deal for your fortnight.Plus they will know the hotels they
have and which ones will fit your requirements best as well as having the best offers.
Who knows they might even throw in free seats to Vegas shows,or get you some casino spending money.0 -
We stayed in The Monte Carlo Hotel in Vegas last year and were not disappointed. It wasn't 5 star but the rooms were lovely, the service (checking in and out) was excellent and it is also in the centre of the strip in the same area as the Bellagio with easy access to various attractions. I don't think you can go wrong in Vegas as the gamblers losses finance excellent comfortable hotels. Just don't book the Stratosphere or Circus Circus as they are at the seedier end of the strip.
May I suggest a couple of excursions from Vegas:
1. A helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon. Take the helicopter rather than a plane as it descends below the rim for a more spectacular flight.
2. Raft from the base of the Hoover Dam down Black Canyon on the Colorado River. This isn't white water but it was one of the most relaxing and beautiful days we spent on our holiday. Visit https://www.blackcanyonadventures.com for more information or https://www.looktours.com for a greater selection of tours. Note Looktours are an agent for the blackcanyon rafting experience (tour 5 of their top 10).
You're going to have a wonderful holiday and I wish I was going with you.
One more thing if you look younger than 21 you will need to ask for a wristband in the casinos so that the security won't keep checking your age. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Most of San Francisco can be done without a hire car, so if you don't mind walking a bit and using the public transport system (trams, metro, etc - as good as any European system) then you will save some day's hire costs. Parking is a real pain in SF and even if you find a space, you need to check really well what the restrictions are. Don't have a hotel by Pier39 unless you like Blackpool prom!0

this looks like a good thread, iam thinking of going to the a1 gp which is going to be in Laguna Seca racetrack which is 2 hours drive south of sf.
i think i will be only able to go from the wed to wed, ive checked flights which are not to bad £356 return (incs connecting flight glasgow-heathrow), i see a few good links for hotels so will price that soon.
is the week enough time to explore sf or should i take longer?Compo challange:Amount won £0 Need to win £2400 -
I've just done this trip - not much advice on the car hire, as we had a 25+ driver. However do you really need a full-size car? Two of us were both very comfortable in a US economy car (similar size to Honda civic). The back seat wasn't exactly small either - you could make savings if you can compromise on space. (Please ignore me if you are all 6" plus!).
We found all US hotels & motels were either 2 doubles or 1 king bed. Priceline don't guarantee a bed type, but the hotel may change it for you. Not sure how close you are, but you could fit 3 in a king sized bed if necessary.
You'll easily find accomodation within your budget, and could get it cheaper if you stay at motels.0
