Buying a new car for cash and selling an old one - tips for haggling needed
Looking to purchase a new car. Can pay cash up to £1000, also have a 1999 5door 1.4 206 with AC only 35000 miles to trade in. Were looking at purchasing a Renault Scenic.
Grateful for any tips on the best way to negotiate the best deal from the Renault trader. We are looking at ex-demo models as the mileage is low and you get virtually a brand new car but with a big cost reduction.
Were hopeful that as we are willing to pay cash this will help get the best discount both on the new car and on the trade in, particularly given the low mileage. Grateful for any tips on the best way to negotiate this. Do we see how far we can get them to come down on price first and finance deals before revealing we can pay cash. Do we start by getting a price on the 206 we wish to trade in? Is it true that if you go towards the end of the month you stand a better chance of getting a bigger discount if the dealer has targets to meet? All advice appreciated.

I can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite
Wake me when conflict is over,
I aim for a peaceful life,
Wake me up when the fury is ended
I like living a peaceful life
