Moved house - phone on Talk Talk - what to do?

I asked a question a couple of days ago about this matter and now have some more information. Basically, we moved into a house and when I spoke to BT they said the line had been transferred. It turns out it was transferred to Talk Talk (found out by phoning from the line).
Having found out the number I have tried to get Talk Talk to connect it for me. However, no one seems to know if they can do this. Does anyone have experience of getting them to help?
If that isn't possible, I understand the line will go back to BT within a certain time period? If that happens do I still have to stump up the £125 connection charge to BT?
Thanks in advance.

Talk Talk can reconnect - but others have tried and, it appears, they don't have in-house procedures for initiating such a thing, so they won't do it.
As such, it's likely you'll have to pay BT to reconnect (the physical line is currently connected to Talk Talk's rack at the exchange and an engineer wioll have to disconnect it and reconnect it to BT's equipment).
However, you should be able to get BT to do the job for £29.99 provided you are willing to agree to an 18 month contract (for line rental, you could still sign up with as CPS calls provider and/or use 1899, 18866 and 18185).
Go for the lowest Plan - the Unlimited Weekend Plan (£10.50/month if you pay by DD and opt for paper-free billing). You get free UK 01/02/03 weekend calls of up to 60 minutes each with that and it's those calls you can use to meet the below condition.
The £29.99 connection offer has a 10 chargeable or inclusive calls per month condition though - make sure you comply with that.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -

Thanks you very much for that suggestion. I've spoken to BT about it and I've got is sorted for £29.99 (although the operator needed telling about the offer!).0
