What Essential Clothes For Winter?

  • I seem to feel the cold easily, but find most of the time in the winter I can get away with warm socks, trousers, long sleeved top and either a polo neck jumper or a chunky knit longline cardigan (seen a lovely long cardi in Peacocks for less than a tenner, will get it next payday!)

When its colder, I layer with a couple of tshirts and a fleece top (if you can afford it, get a decent fleece made for hiking/climbing by a company such as Gelert as I find these to be good quality and really warm).

I've also seen some nice PJ's & jumpers/cardis in Matalan before now and the prices are reasonable, but not as good as Primark!

Finally my winter must haves are a really long & colourful scarf (think Dr Who) and a woolly hat to keep my ears warm!

Ahhh yes, I bought some lovely pj's and a big fleecy dressing gown from Matalan about 3-4 years ago and I wear them regularly in winter and they've still got loads of wear left in them! Quite cheap too, and who cares if I look like Rupert bear and they have big teddies on them as long as I feel warm and cosy :D

Just been into Asda and they've got some lovely jumpers. They're semi fitted with a v-neck. The black ones are £5 and coloured ones are £7. They're made of acrylic, but feel very soft like lambswool. They're quite smart looking, so they'd be great for going out in.

I couldn't resist and I bought a black one and a pale blue one :D
Here I go again on my own....

as my feet are awlays cold in winter, i wear a pair of trainer socks beneath thicker socks, and this always seems to make a difference to me. i find lots of thin layers keeps me warmest, usually a vest, a t shirt a this sweater and then if need be a cardi, and i usually have cheap pair of leggings under my jeans to ward out the cold.
  • I agree that layering is the warmest. My sister has reynards and I bought her a hand warmer from Milletts last year (in sale) and she finds that good. Plus you can get a 'wheat' bag that you warm up in the microwave and it keeps warm for ages. This can be worn as a scarf or on your lap or across the small of your back. My sister loves hers.

Have you thought about skirts? you can wear loads under them, tights/sock/leggings petticoats etc and then you can wrap them round your legs. I've been told that this is warmer than trousers.

Hope you get something as there is nothing worse that feeling cold if you're not at your best.

    Good luck. :)

I can certainly vouch for that! :j

When I actually bother to get out of the fleecy dressing gown and get dressed! :o ... I almost always wear long ankle length skirts, which are breezy and cool in the summer, but also in the winter I wear leggings or woolly tights underneath, as well as woolly socks! (no one can see them anyway) and they do keep you much warmer :D

I can vouch for the Primark joggers and fleece jumpers as well, I've had ones from that I bought 2 years ago and they still look like new even though I wear them all the time :D At £3 each they certainly pass the 'Math' test :D
