Just got this in my inbox ...
Darn, I only switched to A&L a few months back but I guess I could be switching again anytime soon (I've got no objection to an ATM operator or a bank charging a reasonable fee ... but charging £2 for a robot to hand out a single piece of brown paper is ridiculous)
IMPORTANT MESSAGE(S)
Changes effective from 1 June 2008:
- ATM usage abroad will incur a 2% (minimum £2) fee.
- UK non-LINK ATM usage will incur a 2% (minimum £2) fee.
- Withdrawals/Purchases abroad will incur a 2.95% conversion fee.
Can barely believe the thing about ATM charging. Q.Will a machine forwarn me that I'm going to be charged?Darn, I only switched to A&L a few months back but I guess I could be switching again anytime soon (I've got no objection to an ATM operator or a bank charging a reasonable fee ... but charging £2 for a robot to hand out a single piece of brown paper is ridiculous)

This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0 -
Having since read up on the Link network I now realise that Link is much bigger than it was the last time I was stuck with a Link only cashcard (in 1995). So maybe this isn't a big deal after all.0

These days you'll struggle to find an ATM that isn't a Link so I really wouldn't worry about it and I'm with A&L fwiw.
