Yes. It sounds like you CPS your calls. That means you must, at least, have BT's Unlimited Weekend Plan (formerly BT Together Option 1 and their lowest option) - which gives you inclusive (free) weekend calls of up to 60 minutes each to UK 01/02/03 numbers.

As inclusive calls count towards the required number of calls for free 1571 (if you really must use it) and Caller Display, make a few such calls at the weekend with the 1280 prefix!

Your friends and family would probably prefer it if you were to dump 1571 altogether though!
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I've a barn that needs a completely new phone line installing, I'm in remote Cornwall where VirginMedia do not operate, is BT my only option ?

    Thanks, Tim
Another option you may wish to consider is not to actually install a land line at all. All the mobile networks are offering mobile broadband dongles. The cheapest I have seen is with three @ £5.00 per month. You the have VOIP options including Skype for calling and receiving.

This may not be the most practical option but it does present an alternative

You can indeed - but I'd make them at the weekend so that they're free.

But, on behalf of your friends and family, can I urge you not to use 1571.
