I forgot to reply to a notice of intended prosecution that i recieved for speeding. I wasn't the driver (other half is to blame), but we decided that i would say it was me & pay the fine to avoid a further fine because hubbys licence was registered to the wrong address at the time.
Am totally kicking myself for forgetting to return the NIP form and could do with some advise. The 28 days expired today.

November wins...a book, a designer handbag (worth £550 :T) and a game. I am now an addict and thank everyone for taking the time to share and post.

I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

You'd better hope that nobody from the Police ticket office reads these forums, making a false declaration of driver's identity under s172 RTA can lead to a charge of Perverting the Course of Justice, punishable by a large fine and/or a prison sentence.
Not the case for the Police it seems... http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/newsnight/7130028.stmThose in cars caught on camera were all on duty but none was prosecuted after refusing to say who was at the wheel.
This is the best bit.In one case it claimed that if the occupants of a speeding police van were identified because of publication, there was a "risk that those individuals will be vilified and as a consequence their mental or physical health will suffer".0 -
Taking the blame for an offence committed by someone else is perverting the course of justice and is taken very seriously.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

You'd just better hope that its not one of those speed cameras which take a photo of the driver, if it is one of those you could get got by the police as others have said.0
