Problems with Freeview boxes?

I appreciate the advice, guys, thanks.
BUT, I just want something cheap and cheerful for the dining room - we have Sky in the lounge and I just need to get CBeebies for my 2 year old to eat his dinner to!!
The 2 boxes we've had so far have been quite cheap, about 30-40 quid I think, and most of the ones in Argos seem under this price now, I just wonder whether ANY of them will give a reasonable lifespan, it is rubbish!

tbh, I have been rather amazed by the techy spiffy insides of Tesco Technika kit - dirt cheap (no batteries included!) but, ye Gods-of-choice, does it do the job.

Their DVD player is a total steal at 17 squid, plays any format I throw at it - I've paid through the nostrils for top freeview boxes (Nokia, Philips) and have been majorly disappointed. Will go for a Technika version of anything now.

just dont get a technika 19 inch lcd tv with dvd player coz when you watch the tv the sound isnt in sync with the picture!

We don't even receive all the channels that appear on the Freeview list, never have so am sure it's not a fault here. I think its poo and as soon as I can would get Sky/Virgin again.

Also, ours hasn't died (yet) but the sound goes out of sync often...
