I have just written out the entire 5 week saga about PIPEX HOMECALL/TISCALI (they are changing their name back and forward to avoid the issue that I have with them only I'm not fooled! Unfortunately for you chaps my epic adventure/nightmare was lost/deleted and as I can't bear the mental anguish of writing it all out again you have been spared! Anybody considering moving to PIPEX just DON'T, prod yourself with something sharp and pointy, they do not have a customer service! They promise that their "friendly customer services staff are all based in the UK" well unless the UK has invaded and claimed the Phillipines then that to me says it all, they'll lie to us, their customers, without fear of any sort of penalty from the powers that are supposed to protect consumers in this country. If you have an issue that isn't on a list of problems to solve then you get caught up in a cycle of it's not our fault so we'll have to charge you £85, even though it isn't my fault it apparently isn't theirs either so they want to charge me another £85 for exactly the same issue, the first time in PIPEX name this time in TISCALI's name! All I want is to be able to make a telephone call! Their response... well use your mobile! They now tell me that if I want to move provider I will have to pay them a cancellation fee! Yeah right! Can see that happening have cancelled the Direct Debit already to prevent them stealing from my account which I strongly believe they are capable of. My next step is to involve OFCOM or OTEL or Trading Standards or all of them, I have written to both PIPEX addresses without any response, I need a phone! Any suggestions on who else to involve would be greatly appreciated.0

I phoned OFCOM yesterday to ask advice re similar probs with Pipex/Homecall and they told me that you have to be 12 (yes twelve!) weeks into a dispute before they can become involved. Talk about sitting on the b---fence! I e-mailed Watchdog and advised them of my probs. I have taken my phone call package back to BT and will be with them in "10 working days". That actually produced a response from Pipex this morning to the effect that they will put a cancellation charge on my account, send in the debt collectors etc. etc., bring it on. I can't wait to leave such a crap company I only wish I had read these forum postings before I switched to them, but as they say, with hindsight!! I cancelled my DD 6 weeks ago as I object to paying 13p a minute for the priviledge of speaking to them and getting bills far in excess of anything I used to get from BT. Still they don't contact me or answer my e-mails, short of writing to them by mail rather than e-mail I don't know what else to do.0

Since my first few posts on this matter, I've actually managed to get a hold of someone to talk to. I rang them up yesterday and spoke to someone right away..no holding whatsoever. The English lady I spoke to was very helpful, and put me on a much better package. 2mbps internet speed plus the same package we're getting now with the phone for £10 cheaper than we're currently paying. The only trouble is that we'll be waiting 16 days for the faster internet. Providing it works out..happy days!0
