old vw polo ...elec troubles with dash cluster

my old cluster went to hell after id been messing with to cure a rattly speedo
so ive got another set out of a junker...most of the issues are cured but the blue headlamp main beam led/bulb doesnt work
ive swapped in another bulb and still the same...also when i operate the main beam stalk it makes the coolant lamp flash!!!!
any ideas as its driving me mental
