has anyone got any views on the HSBC plus account?
Monthly fee is about £12.50 and apart from free ATM withdrawals worldwide, annual worldwide family travel cover and a few discounts at restaurants, it seems a bit expensive!
Im new to this forum, so apologies if it has been discussed before and when so I can reserch

Not worth it unless you travel extensively. Even so I would consider a Green/Gold American Express charge card for similar benefits but lower annual fee.0

It totally depends on your own personal circumstances if it's worth it or not. You'd need to look at if your account is in credit or if you use an overdraft, if you have a credit card, savings, etc. If you move a mortgage to hsbc the plus will most probably be well worth it.
Check the website to see what else comes with it.

I'm not sure if there is a benefits calculator on there but if not phone up and get them to put your details into the one they have in the call centre and see how much it would benefit you.
I personally like mine because it's easy. It saves me the hassle of getting travel insurance.0 -
currently the plus account gives you 8% interest on credit balances up to 1k and also only charges debit interest fees of 8% instead of the usual 18.9% so good if you have a large overdraft.
also 10% off car insurance, 3 months free house insurance, discounted life/sickness/illness cover
There are also many leisure benefits such as discount on holidays, days out, restaurants etc.
AND you get preferental savings rates and also special mortgage rates.
all in all, a good package.0 -
I am now taking the "Plus" account with HSBC as they'll only charge me £6 per month (student account plus). The benefits seem to outweigh the cost here. I would have given it a second thought they were gonna charge me £12.0
