Weird network problem

So I have two PCs, linked via a Linksys BEFRS41 v2 router.
The main PC is running XP Pro SP2.
The second PC is running XP Home SP2.
Both PCs can see each other, no problem there at all. I can also transfer whole folders and files from the main PC to the second PC without any bother.
However, if I want to transfer whole folders (say one folder represents an album full of music files), from the second PC to the main PC oftentimes some files, usually the first, second and sometimes third alphabetically titled files, are missing and not shown in Explorer on the main PC : indeed the only way to transfer these 'missing files' across is to copy them in the second PC to another location on the second PC (usually Desktop) - the main PC will then pick them up and allow me to transfer across separately without a problem.
So why is this happening, why only on certain files (usually those starting 01..., 02...., 03....) and why when it works perfectly well the other way round ?
Just a quick note that Zone Alarm is configured correctly and both PCs can see each other when pinging them.
