Looking to buy a good dvd/hdd recorder.

You probably need to advise people of how much you want to spend, what kind of TV it is for, what its main uses are.. etc.

Then people will be able to give you a better answer

Do you mean DVD or HDD recorder or a DVD and HDD recorder?

For either I would recommend Richer Sounds (https://www.richersounds.com) for service and price, although they don't have any DVD and HDD recorders for £200 (cheapest is £270).

If you want to pause live TV with a DVD recorder this needs the DVD-RAM format - I would recommend the Panasonic DMRES10 (£150)

Cheapest HDD/DVD recorder I've seen is a Mustek badged one for £150 from ebuyer here but it's DVD+R RW format. A multiformat LiteOn one is here for £200.

If you mean an EPG like Sky+, the only affordable machines with an electronic programme guide are the Philips ones which have Guideplus, although these are DVD+R RW format only - though I have never found this to be a problem myself.

The EPG will control your Sky or Freeview box too.
