Why cant you buy nice modern net curtains? Does anyone know where i can buy some from?
I cant sew so making my own out of voile isnt an option. But i do need a variety of sizes small ickle ones and big full length ones for my french doors.

I'm not quite sure what you have in mind as 'modern' but I bought plain net (which I consider to be a more modern look),from roseby's.Available in a number of drop sizes and ready to hang. There are 300 stores throughout the country, and usually represent good value for money. They were very helpful in my local branch. They have a website, but I don't know how to do links,so try a google search!0

I agree with edinburghlass, you could then buy some of the iron on stuff to hem it if you need to. I bought loads of their £5ish voiles and then hemmed them on my mini jml sewing machine thing, worked a treat!WW Gold Member, trying to maintain !!!Hayden born July 07Tabitha born April 05Poppy born July 030

I have plain nets which are just like voile and they were the cheapest to buy.
I think for a 54" drop they were £1 something a metre.
I bought them from a fabric store local to me http://www.abakhanfabrics.co.uk/ which have a few stores around the country.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I found you can buy nice modern net curtains. I just went to little curtain shop and they had loads of styles, mine are plain with one inch squares on them, no frills, no flowers and no dangly bits - just modern. Oh and they made them to measure complete with a weighted hem so they hang nicely. Next time you are out pop into some shops and see what you can find, you might be surprised. The best things in life are NOT free - but they sure are cheaper with MSE!:j0

Oooh.... yes abakhan fabrics are great, I used to go to the one in Mostyn, North Wales. Though it takes a bit of getting used to buying fabric by the pound, (or is it kilo now?) :rotfl:♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
When I buy net curtains I buy 4 times the width of the window, is that about right, or is there some secret formula.

Have you been down the Mostyns factory shop in Christchurch(Bridge Street is it?)? Not been for a while but from memory they had quite a lot of choices and would make them up to any size you wanted. We got some plain ones from thre 3 years or so ago(which have just been consigned to the loft due to a change of heart by Mrs Tide. We had odd sized windows hence why we had to get them to make them up, we took the window sizes and Mostyns advised on what size they were best to be made to, picked them up a week or so later.0

I know what you mean... When I look outside compare my net curtains to my other neighbours - mine look sooo granified.0
