If you are sorting probate yourself, you do it at the Probate Office, and it is included in the overall cost they charge (can't remember the amount, around £100?).
There is more information available on their website.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Thanks but No.
Estate is complicated and I have got the experts in.
Waiting for the paper work to arrive, knowing that I have to find
'another; solicitor 'or commissioner' for the oath.0 -
Surely if you have 'got the experts in', you have got a solicitor acting for you? Why not just ask them?Gone ... or have I?0

If it does have to be done independently, it shouldn't cost more than a tenner.
But as DMG says, it's normally included at the Probate Office.
Depends whether you are actually applying for Probate or facilitating someone else to apply for it.0 -
We needed a commissioner of oaths last year (a work related issue).
I just rang the nearest solicitor to my office to check if they offered such a service, and they said it was pretty simple, that we could call over at any time and they'd arrange it there and then. They charged £10.0 -
Your solicitor is acting for you, so is not independent, so cannot administer the oath. So if you ask for their help, one of their clerks will take you to the office of another solicitor (presumably nearby), who will do the swearing with you.
However, if you know what you are doing then you can make arrangements yourself. The whole procedure takes a few minutes, and so should not cost more than a tenner.0 -
You could [at least up to 18 months ago when I left] do it at A magistrates Court for free. Go in early before the court cases start for the day but not so early that the Magistrates are not there. ie around 945am.Unsecured Debt [STRIKE]11,000 ish [/STRIKE]Feb 08 ok honestly more or less 12,000 and no more Credit available

I did this a few months ago and it cost me £5 (and I live in the South East). It only took 5-10 minutes as well.
