I thought I would share this as my son is play dough mad. I got fed up with buying play dough as its not always cheap and when it drys out you have to get more. I looked online and found this easy to make recipe.
1 cup of flour
half a cup of salt
2 tablespoons of cream of tartar
2 tablespoons of oil
1 cup of hot water frm the kettle
Food colouring
some vanilla essence
mix al lthe ingredients and leave the food colouring till last so you can use different colourings.
It will seem dry at first but when you keep mixing with your hands it will become like playdough. you can use vanilla to make it smell nice.
Atleast it will save you from keep having to buy playdough, you can use biscuit cutters which you can buy from poundshops.
Its great fun and if you do make it with your kids be careful from the hot water.have fun

That is completely different to the one I used to make for the children at the nursery. it had to be microwaved etc ... will try and dig out the recipe, lasts for about 2 months which was greatRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

this one you dont have to cook. You just put it in a bowl and off you go lol. I found the recipe on a website, cant remember which one but lots of people left comments saying how good it was. It is still fresh and my son loves it. I think the reason you dont have to cook this one in a pan or microwave is coz of the hot water that gets added.0
