Disappearing Water

About 3 months ago I had a new bathroom suite fitted. All has been well up to now but in the past few days when I have put the water into the washbasin it has started to run away down the plughole (with the plug in)before I've been able to use it.
What is the likely reason for this and the solution?

The plugs on modern bathroom suites sometimes have a small black rubber ring around them to complete the seal when you put them in the plughole. Check that this has not fallen off. If so then either replace it or replace the entire plug, whichever is easier.
Also, some of the cheaper plugs are made completely of rubber, if they are exposed to very hot water a lot, they can sometimes warp, causing the water to run around the edges of the plug.
Either way replacing the plug should do the trick.0 -
Thanks VH. No sign of a seal having come off so I guess it's just a cheap plug (it does feel very much lighter than the old one) that needs replacing after a few short months.0
