Mobile Phone Contracts

My mobile phone contract ends at the end of June and i was wondering if there is anywhere i can check to see if what im getting is the best deal for me.

I have been with O2 for years and years now, and im worried that i might not be able to get another pay monthly contract (due to my rubbish credit history!) but i have tried to get it cheaper and they dont seem to do a cheaper tariff for me.

Any ideas?

Thanks

what tariff are you on? How much do you pay a month and for what? Normally most companies will want to keep you if you have been paying your bills then this wont change.

    Hi

    I pay £30 a month and i get:

    * 600 minutes (anytime any network)
    * 500 texts (free unlimited time etc.)

The thing i find that bumps my bill up (to around £45 a month) is texting/phoning my mum in Ireland.

I have this month reset my timers etc. on my phone to see what i use when im trying to keep it down. That way i may be able to lower the tariff.

are the phone calls fairly split between your mum and yourself or are you doing the phoning first ?

If you are phoning abroad all the time I dont think you will ever have a low bill on a mobile. You would be better off buying a calling card and phoning from a phone box or a land line!

I dont phone all the time.

I think i will just keep it to once a week possibly. Will see.

I have had a look around and my deal does seem very good. Think i will stick with O2, maybe try and fake leaving and see if they can bring it down a bit.

It sounds like you are paying too much for your contract.

I am with O2 I threatened to leave in August because there were better deals around but mainly because my sister is on O2 and she'd got a much better package for the same deal.

She got 500 calls, 500 texts, free phone and £80 credit for £20 a month. So I phoned and asked for my pac number as I felt it was unfair that she had a better deal. Customer services put me through to retentions, who asked why I was leaving. I told them and they matched, no questions asked.

As you are going over your monthly allowance, you might want to start off on the basis that it is unfair that you are paying £10 a month more for the same deal as your friend, and see if you can get extra calls and texts to keep you within your £30.

Oh, and you do upgrade your phone each year, don't you? I didn't want mine and sold it on ebay for £80 - thats a lot of extra calls.

    Hope this helps

Yeah i think i will ask in a bit about that, but i think i get the extra 100 mins for the extra £10 (if that makes sense?).

I was thinking about selling the new phone, but my cats has pretty much destroyed the one i have, so may need to get a new one anyway
