Pubs & Bars Serving More Ice Then Drink

My absolute hate is when you go to a UK pub and order a glass of Rose wine or a pint of Magners... and they try and put ice in it...
Not sure about the Rose, but isn't Magners advertised as being best drunk on ice?
In all the adverts I've seen they show it with ice in the pint pot - slightly odd I'll accept - but that's how it is marketed so I'm not at all surprised when bar staff automatically put ice in the glass (and as it comes in a bottle, it's not like you are getting a short measure)I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.

Re watering the beer......... It would have to be done at the brewery - as cannot see how anyone could get water into the barrel!! Its not easy putting a new one on (got soaked a few times when I was new!) - that it seems in my mind, impossible to put anything in when it comes out with such force!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:Genie

Quite a shocking statistic really but as far as I can see, even with lined glasses it would never be a pint. Correct me if I'm wrong and i clearly could be but if you were to scoop out the head of a pint and leave it in a glass it would end up a small but significant amount of liquid, therefore if you use a lined glass and filled to the pint line, then had the head on top, the foamy head would take the liquid content over a pint. It would seem there's three options, give less than a pint by using a pint glass and having a head on the pint, give more than a pint by having a pint line and having the head above it or give exactly a pint by using either glass and pouring a pint so that there is literally no head on it.Bought, not Brought0 -
Alot of fizzy drinks in pubs and fast food resturants are pre measured, they press a button and you get the set amount advertised, if you have no ice then they usually top up and that bit is in essence a freebie0

My mum makes me laugh as when we go to the pub she asks for her drink with just one ice cube please! She does get funny looks sometimes which makes it even funnier! Our dream has come true...0
