I need a chequebook account

I have 3 different basic bank accounts - one I use for my main account to have my wages paid in to, and the other two as savings accounts.
I really need to get a chequebook account for one of my savings accounts as the cost of Postal Orders is extortionate. I got one the other day and it cost me over £5! I have to pay out termly for different items for my children and some of the people I pay do not accept cash, hence the postal order.
I run my accounts well even though my credit history hasn't been great until I took it in hand last year at my lightbulb moment.
Are all chequebook accounts linked to current accounts? And are all these credit reference checked? I don't want to apply for an account and get turned down just for it to sit on my credit file for all to see. I'm just tired of throwing money away to the post office unnecessarily.

Most banks will give a cheque book (attached to a current account) without asking many questions or doing a credit reference check (they even give cheque books to 16 year old who aren't working at most banks). Getting a cheque guarantee card could be more difficult.
Perhaps approach one of your current banks and ask about upgrading to a full current account.0 -
Don't think you will get a cheque book for a savings account. If you have a cheque book for your current account transfer the money to there and then write the cheque.Noobie (not so
) trying to make loads a dosh - please bear with all my questions  Thanks
