Reputable Home Buying Companies?

We are relocating and like every one we are having trouble selling our house. Been on the market since Feb, we have dropped the price £15K and still only a few viewings all from people who haven't sold theirs yet. We are now going to have to rent so that my husband can start his new job and will not be able to keep up mortgage payments and rent for long. We would also like to be settled asap as we have to start applying for schools later this year. Because of all of this I am wondering if we should consider approaching one of these companies that will buy your house and complete within days. I understand that they offer under the market value but it won't be long before we start losing money hand over fist any way.
My gut reaction is not to touch these companies with a barge pole but I was wondering if any one had any experience of them and if any are more reputable than others. I have heard that some where buying properties to rent back to the owners when repossession was about to happen and then upping the rent after a few months.
Thanks in advance!

We are also starting to consider this approach, however the valuation side of it sounds like the automatically value houses 80% less then their worth and then on top of that only offer you 80% of that

As an EA I regularly come across buyers who say they will be selling to one of these companies and so have no chain to worry about. To date I have never know case one proceed as we suggest buyers take advice from their own solicitors. There always seems to be a catch.A retired senior partner, in own agency, with 40 years experience in property sales & new build. Can hubby rent a room for a while at the new destination? It would help keep costs down & give you a chance a to find out more about the area you wish to live in. It may not be an ideal scenario but its probably a better one than loosing tens of thousands of pounds.0
