originator 940451?

Hi, I have just noticed a DD on my bank account with payee ref 940451. the dd is called MTG then lots of numbers. Does anyone have any idea what this would be? is if for HSBC mortgages as have just applied to change mortgage :confused:

    MTG is the common abbreviation for mortgage. Your bank will have the name and address of the originator if its not available to you via online banking. So, you can always phone them if you are not sure.

  • Thanks for this. I found this thread using Google for "Originator 940451".

    I had been trying to find out what a new DD for "MTG 11111122222222" and "Originator 940451" was. The data and amount did not help me.
    It is indeed HSBC Mortgages, with 111111 being the sortcode and 22222222 being the account number for the mortgage account.

    I hope this helps someone else, but really DD originators should be obliged to use meaningful descriptions.

    11-11-11 is a Halifax sort code ... I don't imagine that HSBC use Halifax for their mortgage collections account.

    Ah... my apologies.

    I thought it was a collection account for HSBC mortgages ... bit strange that they'd put it on the DD though ... thanks for pointing that out.
