Bikers, check your travel insurance!

If you decide to take your motorcycle abroad and want to take out some travel insurance make sure that the cover you pay for actually covers you riding your bike! A lot of policies specifically exclude biking. So the suggestion is to contact the company and get confirmation, in writing if possible. Someone I know visited a local broker, asked if the policy covered him riding his bike. They said it did. He had an accident and needed help to get home and when he contacted the company they told him he wasn't covered after all. It cost him a fortune to get home! As he hadn't got written confirmation it was his word against theirs and quess who won? Also be wary of the web sites that find the cheapest deals. These sometimes don't give the same cover as going to the company direct. This is how they they get cheaper prices. Message is then to check with care who you insure with and that you're covered OK.
